    Comp Cams and Tune

Ok so I was sittin here online and started to looking at some cobalts and came across a 2.2 with the Comp Cams Stage 1 Cams. I found them on Turbotech (Competition Cams Chevrolet Cavalier/Cobalt 2.2L Ecotec 2002-06 - Turbo Tech Racing, LLC) and was wondering if I change out my cams will it cause a check engine light? I unfortunately live in a state that has to pass that emission unlike some states in the US. Also with the install of the cams it says it's not required but I was looking around and found that some people are using the Trifecta tuning program. Went to the website and looked around but I'm still unsure about how it works. Has anyone used this program??

I'm not plannin on doing this anytime soon, it's just an idea to see whats available for the 2.2 motor. Also I was looking at the Eagle Connecting rods (Eagle Connecting Rods Cavalier/Sunfire 2002-05 Cobalt 2005-08 Ion 2004-08 ALL 2.2L ECOTEC Only - Engine Internals - Turbo Tech Racing, LLC). I was just wanting an opinion and to see if anyone has done these mods and what kind of hp did ya'll gain. I am planning on doing the 2.4 Intake manifold swap and doing the full cat-back exhaust here soon.

IF there CAr you Found was Yellow I know who you're talking about. I would suggest a tune to be able to use the cams, more efficiently. The Trifecta Tune is a base tune and then you log data send the data to the tuner and he tweaks the tune and sends you a new tune. If you have to pass emissions I recommend using adjustable timing gears. You can create the same effect as having Stage 1 cams just with adjusting the timing in the Cobalt. As for Turbotech I've ordered most of my parts from them without issues.

I know I've seen them a few other places. Here's the link to the ones crate engine depot has. Ecotec Adjustable Cam Gear Set 88958613 - Crate Engine Depot

You can search a few more of these websites and see what you come up with. http://www.localcobalt.net/forum/gen...tes-parts.html

EDIT: I also found these at J-Body Performance Part Details JP0889

While a tune will obviously help you get the most out of the cams, its the least of your concerns.

The Comp cams for the 2.2 will work in your car only once you: remove the camshaft reluctor wheel from your stock intake cam and have it PROPERLY pressed onto the new Comp cam and timed to the cam, then you need to have the intake cam shortened. These cams ARE NOT a bolt in mod.

odds of him actually knowing what all that means and doing it are slim.
